Name: Mr. Clark Ma
Major of Bachelor's Degree: Applied Sciences (Health Studies)
Institute: PolyU SPEED
I worked as a firefighter for three years, during which I deeply valued the importance of rescue work. However, I also reflected on how I could contribute more to society. A unique opportunity led me to spend a year as a teaching assistant in a secondary school supporting students with special educational needs (SEN). Collaborating with the school social worker during this time inspired me to explore social work. I realized that helping others goes beyond emergency responses and can involve meaningful interventions on psychological and social levels. This experience motivated me to pursue a Master’s in Social Work, equipping myself to serve the community in a more holistic way.
6.
Name: Ms. CHUI, Heidi
Major of Bachelor's Degree: Education (Early Childhood Education)
Institute: The Education University of Hong Kong
I am committed to the education of students with special educational needs (SEN) for many years. However, a particularly profound experience led me to ponder: beyond direct training support, what else can I do for these children? This question resonated deeply within me, making me realize that mere educational support might not be sufficient to meet their multifaceted needs. This led me to explore social work, a field that provides comprehensive support on both psychological and social levels. By completing a social work programme, I hope to better understand their needs and offer more meaningful support.
I firmly believe that every child has unique potential and value, and it is my responsibility to help them uncover this potential and support them in realizing their dreams. Through studying social work, I aim to gain a clearer understanding of how I can effectively serve these children who require special care, offering them more holistic and in-depth support.

Name: Ms. NG, Hoi Yiu Olivia
Major of Bachelor's Degree: Psychology
Institute: Hong Kong Shue Yan University
While completing my Bachelor of Psychology and through my previous work experience, I gradually realized my passion for social work and its importance. Psychology provides a foundational knowledge base for understanding human behavior and mental processes, however, I hope to apply this knowledge to more specific social situations and help people who face challenges. Therefore, I decided to pursue a master's degree in social work so that I could put my knowledge into practice in real social work. Also, I have participated in internships and volunteer activities related to social services, and these experiences have enabled me to see the important role that social workers play in improving people's quality of life. I have deeply realized that social work is not only about providing psychological support, but also about systematically solving social problems and promoting social justice. This has sparked my interest in the field of social work and I hope to develop my professional skills in this area.
