2360 PPE: Orientation & Service Exposure Agency Briefing Night (October 30, 2023)
The 100 hours of Pre-placement Exposure (PPE) is a pre-requisite for fieldwork practicum courses as required by the Social Workers Registration Board. The HKSYU Social Work Department has focused on “learning through doing” as one of the educational means to prepare our social work students to deal with an increasingly fast changing workplace in their journey of career development.
With the involvement of the social workers of 8 NGOs, from Dec 2023 to June 2024, we will engage our year 1 students to participate in some meaningful tasks and projects in order to better understand the characteristics of various service target groups and learn how to serve their needs. The NGOs are as follows: The Salvation Army Chuk Yuen Integrated Service, DADs Network, Kowloon City Baptist Church Neighbourhood Elderly Centre Upper Wong Tai Sin Estate, Hong Kong Children and Youth Services Jockey Club Fong Shu Chuen Integrated Children & Youth Services Centre, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals CROSS Centre, Caritas Integrated Family Service Centre (Sau Kei Wan), Hong Kong Christian Service Bliss District Elderly Community Centre and YWCA Jockey Club Family Wellness Centre.
