Departmental Seminar: Mitigating the Impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences on Adolescents and Adults: Clinical Practice and Research (March 20, 2024)

 

On March 20, 2024, the Department organized a seminar titled “Mitigating the Impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences on Adolescents and Adults Clinical Practice and Research.” The seminar was attended by over 300 participants.
 
The seminar featured four distinguished speakers: Dr. Paulina KWOK Chi-ying (Registered Social Worker, Trauma Therapist), Ms. May CHAN Siu-mei (Supervisor – Counselling Service, The Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong), Mr. Alan CHAN Yuk-lun (clinical psychologist) and Dr. Wallace TSANG Wai-hung (Assistant Professor, Hong Kong Shue Yan University). During their presentations, the speakers shared their practical experiences from the frontline, supplemented by the recent research findings, to thoroughly discuss strategies for mitigating the negative influence of people with adverse childhood experiences (ACES). Following the presentation, there was a Q&A session where the attendees actively raised their questions and engaged in further discussion.
