2460 PPE Theme-based Training Workshops / Agency Visits (2 Jun – 6 Jun, 2025)
In Early June 2025, we arranged three training workshops and three agency visits for Year 1 students to experience respectively.
We would like to thank the agencies and guest trainers for their participation and support, which motivated our students to gain a deeper understanding of social services and intervention skills before their fieldwork practicums.
2460 PPE Workshop: Play Therapy Workshop
- I find this topic quite fascinating, especially since I have a strong interest in working with children and in the field of special educational needs. This workshop provided me with a completely new perspective on play therapy. Initially, I believed that play therapy mainly involved observing the child’s choices to understand their behavior. However, after attending the session, I realized that the interaction between the therapist and the child, along with the principle of non-intervention, plays a much more crucial role during therapy. This approach allows the child to express themselves freely while the therapist carefully supports their emotional development. The workshop has inspired me to deepen my knowledge of play therapy as well as explore other therapeutic methods. I am motivated to enhance my skills and apply these techniques in my future work to better support children with diverse needs.
2460 PPE Agency Visit: Day Activity Centre cum Hostel Visit

- In this visit, it really gives me a new experience. To be honest, I have a little stereotypes on the people who have intellectual disabilities before this activity. Before I got into the hostel, I asked myself: “ Can I accept those people’s behaviour?” At first, when I just got in the hostel, I felt feared and embarrassed of the users’ weird behaviour. But when the activity move on, I found that they have a lot of cute and funny ideas in their minds just like a normal person. Even they can’t respond clearly to our questions, they are trying their best to answer our questions. Throughout this PPE, I found that we should treat people with intellectual disabilities as a normal person rather than discriminating them or having stereotypes on them.
2460 PPE Agency Visit: Transitional Housing Visit
2460 PPE Workshop: Developmental Transformations workshop
- Before joining the workshop, I have no idea what’s developmental transformations. The workshop has broadened my horizons. Giving me a chance to know that there are many different associations in Hong Kong. Not just only teenagers or elderly fields which we often mention about. There are many different ways to get in touch with different people in order to provide them with help which the lectures seldom mention about. Overall, it’s a great experience and I would definitely like to join more similar workshops in the future.
2460 PPE Agency Visit: Community Centre Visit
- Visiting the Community Centre feels different compared to other community centres. The major reason is how the centre utilizes its nature-oriented surroundings to enhance the services provided. Its rich resources contribute to personal development and well-being for all age groups.
Nonetheless, the walking trail experience has revealed that Sai Kung has a significant number of villages and hidden elderly individuals who need assistance. Due to the area's layout, it can be challenging for both staff and service users. However, the centre has devised creative solutions, such as personal transportation vehicles and using nearby neighbourhood facilities, to manage activities and ease the burden, which is thought-provoking.
2460 PPE Workshop: Table for Choice, and Empathetic Journey of Life workshop
- I got an unforgettable learning experience by playing Tabletop Role-Playing Game (TRPG) and Live Action Role-Playing (LARP) applied to social changes. I have a better understanding towards storytelling and gaming with players. By these two methods, we could bring out deeper social problems and reflections during role-playing. Those characters in the story remade by real-life are easily empathised by gamers because of entering the world view created in the stories. The details of the games are more realistic and full of human emotions that help participants to know more about the situations, such as domestic violence, and how society used to blame the victim online, etc. I am looking forward to being one of the volunteers to learn these skills and apply them in my placement in the future.
